Stephen O’Brien, United Nations Humanitarian Chief has released US 413 million from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) in order to provide life-saving assistance to 250,000 people living in North-east Nigeria.

In accordance with the statement by O’Brien which was released yesterday, the 27th of June, the looting of livestock and destruction of crops have rather rendered many people incapable of supporting their families. Over 50,000 people need tools for the upcoming planting season and seeds and CERF funding will go a long way to rebuild their livelihoods. A good number of women and girls as well as men and boys have witnessed terrible abuses. The funds of CERF will enable humanitarian partners to render protection services and psychological support.
