LAGOS: Man Stabs His Elder Brother Over Torchlight

Sunday, the 8th of May was a bad day for Mayowa Adelaja who met his untimely death in the hands of his brother during a fight. However, Remi Adelaja who is accused of killing his elder brother, Mayowa Adelaja has since being on the run after the murder act.

The unfortunate incident happened around 2am at their home at Adelaja Street, off Afiaogun, Oshodi in Lagos. It was gathered that it was an argument over torchlight that lead to the death of Mayowa Adeleja.

According to a resident (name withheld) of the area, the deceased looked for a torchlight and after he could not find it, he asked his brother of it but he dissented and claimed he had no idea of where it was.
The resident further revealed that both brothers were having unresolved issues before that day. The suspect moved his five children to stay together with his family in their father’s house. Meanwhile, the deceased had complained about it. So, on Saturday night, the issue about the torchlight heightened as the two brothers started fighting each other. The deceased hit the younger brother with an iron rod twice and on revenge, the younger brother rushed inside, came out with a knife and stabbed the elder brother right on the stomach.
He helplessly fell down and died instantly. Everybody except, Mrs Adeleja, their mother, a bread seller was left. However, the police arrived at the scene by 2am.
