LAGOS: A Young Mother of Two Killed by her Husband at their Home in Egbeda

A man named Lekan Shonde allegedly beat his wife Ronke Bewaji Shonde to her early grave yesterday the 6thof May at their home located at Tiemo Crescent off Awori street in Egbeda, Lagos.
A family friend of hers who reported this unfortunate incident to LIB said that late Ronke and her husband engaged in a fight early in the morning of that day at their home as their kids were sleeping.

A neighbor of theirs said that he heard some noise emanating from their flat that early morning but waved it off, thinking it was nothing awful that was occurring in their home.

Later, the couple’s nanny came to their house to start her work at around 7am but she discovered that the house was locked and nobody could open the door. She called the phone number of her madam but it was switched off. She sneaked a look through the window and saw their two kids(age 6 and 4) crying and saying that their mum could not wake up. While this was happening, people who shared the same neighborhood with her had also gathered. They forced the door open and found Ronke’s body lying lifeless on the flood as blood gushed out from her head.

Lekan Shonde, her husband had eloped as he was found nowhere. Ronke’s phone could not also be found and her phone number was completely switched off. When he discovered that he had beaten Ronke to death, he locked the kids with her corpse in the house and escaped with her phones.

Their family friend revealed that Ronke had gone through a hell of domestic violence in the hands of her husband for quite some years but refused to back out of the marriage. So unfortunate that she lost her precious life to a marriage that probably didn’t worth it.

Ronke died in her mid-30s. Her corpse has been deposited in the mortuary.

Ladies, please learn a lesson. Say no to domestic violence. Your life is worth more than your marriage.
