The body of Senator Offia Nwali, the former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Deputy National Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo was found dead on inside a pond behind his home in Ameka Community, Ezza South local government area of Ebonyi state. The incident happened on Saturday, 21st of May and his dead body was discovered by his relatives.


George Okafor, the spokesperson of the Ebonyi state police command who confirmed the report also said that investigations are going on to unravel the mystery behind his death – whether he was killed or he got drowned inside the pond.
He assured the Ebonyi state citizens that they would make sure that the matter is investigated to its reasonable conclusion.
Senator Nwali was an alumnus of Harvard University, United States. He was one of the first Africans to bag a doctorate degree in Computer and Analytical Studies from the university. In 1983, the 74-year-old senator lost his entire household in a Forker 28-plane crash at the Enugu Airport. However, he later remarried.

His corpse has been deposited at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki mortuary.
