The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the Goodluck Jonathan led-administration and the former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to account for the whopping sum of N30tn said to be unaccounted for or missing while they were in office.

Justice Ibrahim Buba gave the order filled by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) in a Freedom of Information suit number FHC/L/CS/196/2015.
SERAP had filled the suit subsequent to the revelations by Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria. In accordance with the ex-governor, N30 trillion was at least either unaccounted for, embezzled or grossly mismanaged under the watch of the Minister of Finance and the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala when she was in office. SERAP in reaction had met the court ordering the Federal Government and the former Minister to give information on the said N30 trillion.
Justice Buba while delivering the judgment in the suit last week said that the Federal Government and Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala have no legal justification to refuse providing SERAP with the information they have requested for. According to him, the court has gone through SERAP’s application and has agreed that their application has merits and the argument is unopposed.
