Biography of TIWA SAVAGE


Tiwa Savage is one of the female movers and shakers of Nigeria secular music. She grew up nursing the ambition of becoming a star and that dream she has finally achieved as she is recognized as a celebrity songstress within Nigeria and across Africa. Tiwa Savage is a singer, songwriter, recording artist, performer and actress.
Meanwhile, she is an Afropop, R & B, and Soul singer.  No doubt, Tiwa Savage’s versatility as a celebrity artist has moved her to the crest of Nigerian music industry. Tiwa has sure enjoyed glare of publicity from the music fans.

The alluring chocolate skinned singer is born as Tiwatope Savage but known popularly under the stage name, Tiwa savage. Tiwa was born on the 5th of February 1980 in Nigeria’s commercial and entertainment hub, Lagos. She is of Yoruba ethnicity and her family’s ancestral home is Isale Eko in Lagos Island, Lagos state.

At the very young age of eleven, Tiwa’s family migrated to the United Kingdom. Tiwa must have been brought up in a multicultural setting as her family also moved to the United States. She has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Kent. Tiwa worked at the Royal Bank of Scotland.  At a prime age of 27, Tiwa Savage graduated with a degree in professional music from Berklee College of Music. Her unquenchable passion for music must have emboldened her to further her education in a music school to broaden her talent and upgrade her capacity.

Tiwa Savage has worked with a number of foreign music stars like Goerge Micheal, Emma Bunton, Chaka Khan, Kelly Clarkson, Blu Cantrell, Mary J. Blige, Ms. Dynamite, Andrea Bocelli, Eminem, Robbie Williams, 50 Cent, Sting, Destiny’s Child and The Black Eyed Peas to mention just a few. Within Nigeria and in Africa, the Pepsi ambassador and Mavin Record first lady, Tiwa Savage has performed with the likes of Don Jazzy, Dr Sid, Leo Wonder, P-square, Patoranking. Olamide, Wande Coal, Banky W, Iceberg Slim, Wizkid, Tuface, Flavour N’abania, Iyanya, Sarkodie, Diamond Platnumz, D’Prince and the list continues.
 Tiwa Savage’s debut studio album is Once Upon A Timereleased on 3rd of July, 2013. “Wanted” which is one of her music video contained in her debut album evoked boisterous criticisms across the social media platforms and networking sites. However, Savage is a co-writer of the “Collard Green and Cornbread” track on Fantasia Barrino’s Grammy-nominated album “Back to Me”. She is currently signed to Mavin Records and Sony/ATV Music Publishing and SONY USA Record Label. She has been active in the musical scene since 2010 till date.

The Eminado Singer is married to her former manager and husband, Tunji “Tee Billz” Balogun. On 23rd of November, 2013, Savage tied the knot traditionally with her Tee Billz at the Ark in Lekki and on 26th of April 2014, they finally sealed up their marriage with a white wedding at the Armani Hotel in Dubai. Their marriage is blessed with a son Jamil Balogun. Lately, her husband, Tunji Tee Billz Balogun on the 28thof April, 2016 took to his instagram page to expose their marriage saga. According to him, she alleged that his wife, Savage is an infidel and her mother, witchcraft. Ever since this incidence occurred, social media platforms and sites have not entertained rest concerning Tiwa and Tee Billz marriage turmoil. Meanwhile, Tiwa through an interview conducted by Thisday Newspaper and Pulse Nigeria has responded to her husband’s indictment. She discredited his allegations and said that he was financially careless, addicted to drug and also pointed how he abandoned his family. She however pointed out that their marriage will no longer work.
